This past weekend we dropped our youngest off at college, the last birdie in our nest. We are so proud of our daughter but we will miss her very much. As Nan said last week in her MYHS post, "This is what we prepare our children for, to leave the nest. We aren't really raising children, in a way we are raising adults. We raise them to leave us and go out to venture on their own." I couldn't have said it better.
Not only is this a new experience for our daughter, it is a new time for my husband and myself. It's been over 26 years since it's been just the two of us. We are entering a whole new season.
I'm linking up with Making Your Home Sing Monday at Mom's the Word.

So how are you doing so far? I keep thinking I hear his car, and then one time I caught myself wondering if he'd be home for dinner, lol!
There are moments where I forget that he is in another state, and that it's not his car I hear.
Tonight he called on the phone and I thought it was his younger brother calling me from work, haha!
This is an exciting time for you and hubby but also a big transition. I'll be doing it soon myself as our youngest is 17.
Hugs and prayers, my friend, and thanks for linking up to Making Your Home Sing Monday!
It must have been a very emotional weekend for you! Letting go is so hard!
Congratulations!
And, enjoy your time as just a couple!
Yes sweet Darcy,. you are entering the time in life, where all you built on and taught will come in to play for your daughter, you will have to trust and rely on God to keep her safe and out of harms way, and that he will lead her every step, you no longer can, and now it is time to be in unison with your mate, pick and go when he wants, and do whatever you two want to do, if you want to stay in bed all day fine, no one to get up and have to take care of, you will make new memories now, you and you dh, and though you love your children very much, they are gone now, and your time of true togetherness really starts, enjoy, trust God, and have wonderful day, Hugs and blessings, Barbara
Having a child leave home is hard and you worry alot, but when they grow up into such a fine woman as you, it is all worth it, the rewards never stop.
Love ya!
