I love period films. The costumes, the manner of the people of the time, and the beautiful landscape views are very appealing to me. I'm also a lover of history and have read lots of English historical biographies, so this new movie, The Young Victoria was one I really wanted to see. Although not 100% historically accurate (the movie shows Queen Victoria's husband, Albert, being grazed by a bullet in the assasination attempt on her life, which didn't really happen. She was shot at but he wasn't hurt), I have come to expect things like that in many movies for a more dramatic flair for the audience.
My husband's interest in the history of the British royals isn't as extensive as mine, but he enjoyed this movie very much. The cinematography is gorgeous and the story is romantic as was the lives of Victoria and Albert. They were one of the few royals that actually married for love as well as political gains.
Amazon has The Young Victoria for purchase and on the same web page are some spectacular scenes from the movie. I highly recommend this movie!
